Large Format Scanning

At The Scanner Shop we are happy to offer large format scanning solutions for our customers.

The Colortrac and Contex range of large format document scanners will scan documents, paintings, technical drawings, photographs, even fabrics up to A0 in size.

Large format scanning can be enhanced with the use of authorised accessories. The Scanner Shop stock a selection of large format scanner accessories for both Contex and Colortrac large format scanners.

In August of 2023 we introduced a range of large format document wallets. The A1 and A0 sized document wallets help protect original documents as they are scanned, minimising the risk of damage to delicate or fragile documents. Document wallets can be purchased individually or in packs of five.

If you have any questions regarding Colortrac or Contex large format scanners, please contact us.

What is a large format scanner?

A large format scanner is a device that is designed to scan oversized documents, images, and artwork that are too large for standard scanners. These are essential for architects, engineers, and people in construction and design.

How does a large format scanner work?

A large format scanner is equipped to handle larger documents. Here is a quick overview of the process:

  1. Placement of Document: Place the document on the scanning bed or feed it through the feed mechanism.

  1. Calibration and Adjustment: The scanner adjusts its settings for higher resolution, colour accuracy, and document quality.

  1. Scanning Process: The scanner uses light sources, mirrors, lenses, and sensors to capture the image of the document as it moves through the scanner.

  1. Digitisation: The captured image is converted into digital data and can be saved in various file formats such as PDF or TIFF.

  1. Transfer: The digitised file is then transferred to a connected computer or storage device for further use or editing.
