The Canon ScanFront 330 is a network sheetfed scanner with a CMOS CIS 1 line sensor reading the documentation at an optical resolution of up to 600dpi. The ScanFront 330 is able to do both duplex (double-sided) and simplex (single-sided) scanning in one pass. Connecting to your network via 10BaseT/100Base TX connection, the Canon ScanFront 330 also has four USB 2.0 ports for USB Memory (scanning to USB), USB Keyboard and USB Mouse however the a keyboard and mouse are not required to operate this network scanner as it also features an 8.4" TFT LCD Touch Panel with a resolution of 800 x 600.
The dimensions of this network scanner vary depending on if you have the tray closed (scanner not in use) or open (operational state). With the tray closed the scanner has a width of 310mm, a depth of 161mm and a heigh of 215mm, and whilst the width remains the same in operational mode, the tray being open increases the depth to 297mm and the height more than doubles to a height of 565mm. The weight of the unit is approximately 3.6kg.
For black & white or grayscale scanning, the scanning speed is identical at 30 pages-per-minute, which in the scanners single pass duplex mode gives 60 images-per-minute and the colour scanning speed is not that much slower either, with scanning speeds of 25 pages-per-minute but there is also a slight drop in the speed for duplex scanning down to 40 images-per-minute, an understandable result in the sensor's time required to capture the colour data.
The document dimensions supported are a width of 50.8mm to 216mm and a length of 53.9mm to 355.6mm and the automatic feeder can handle paper thickness from 52g/m² up to 209g/m² (0.06 - 0.25mm) though with manual feeding you can scan slightly thinner paper (down to 40g/m² or 0.05mm thickness) and card sizes 53.9mm x 85.5mm with a thickness no more than 300g/m² (cards with embossed lettering are supported). The feeder capacity for the ADF is 50 pages at 80g/m² (standard office paper thickness) and the Canon ScanFront 330 is able to do long page scanning to a maximum length of 1000mm.

The ScanFront 330 can have either simple User Authentication by device authentication or by Server Authentication (both simple and Active Directory type supported).
In regards to software, you do not required any additional software to use the Canon ScanFront 330, aside from having the applicable viewer applications to view the scans (PDF, TIF, JPEG formats) however there is a ScanFront Administration tool provided and there are ScanFront Software Development Kit SDK and Web Application Toolkit SDK available.
There are Exchange Roller kit consumables available for this scanner. The manufacturer suggested daily duty cycle for the ScanFront 330 Network scanner is approximately 3000 scans-per-day.
