The Plustek OpticFilm 8100 35mm film scanner is a dedicated and versatile film scanner with 7200 dpi optical resolution. The Plustek OpticFilm 8100 can be used as a 35mm negative scanner as well as a 35mm slide scanner.

If this isn’t a deal breaker for you then the Plustek OpticFilm 8100 could be worth considering. If you look after your 35mm negatives and slides (dust free) then you will not need the additional functionality of the Plustek OpticFilm 8200i SE. Alternatively, if your film contains dust and scratches you can always edit your scans in post production using Photoshop.
